Betty Joan Elton of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on January 25, 2018 in Charlotte, North Carolina, after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She is now with her Savior, and has been reunited with her devoted husband Fred, who predeceased her.
A celebration of her life will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, OK at a date to be determined in late Spring.
Betty was born to Chester and Hazel Shawver of Garber, Oklahoma, and attended Garber High School. During her many years in Enid, she was a devoted community volunteer, and will be most remembered for her time and service to the Enid Symphony Orchestra, as well as her efforts to preserve one of the only remaining Land Rush Offices from the Cherokee Strip Territory. She was honored as an Enid Woman of the Year in 1993 by the YWCA.
Betty is survived by her four children, Charles Elton and his wife Barbara, of Arlington, TX, Dale Elton and his wife Sherilee, of Granby, MO, Becky Bentley and her husband Mack, of Houston, TX, and Cindy Buchanan and her husband Bill, of Charlotte, NC.
