Darla Elizabeth Lewis

January 16, 1936 ~ February 27, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Darla went home to be with her Lord on Feb 27, 2017 at the age of 81.  

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at River Hills Community Church with the Rev. Gayle Montgomery and Rev. Bruce Jones officiating.

She married Richard E Lewis on June 30, 1956.  They had four children: twins Lawrence and Stephen,Virginia Chole (and husband Steve), and Linda Fonteyne.  Darla is also survived by six grandchildren: Lindsay Chole Smith (and husband Joey), William Taylor, Eric Chole (and wife Dana), and Brayden Chole.  She leaves a loving legacy to five beautiful great-grandchildren: Hannah, Hunter, Michael, Abram and Morgan.  She will also be missed by her sister, Marcia Ferguson and husband Ed of Flint, MI and brother-in-law Bob Lewis and wife Sherri of Northfield, IL. 

She was preceded in death by infant son Stephen and daughter-in-law Judy Lewis.

Darla was born and raised in Flint, MI.  She attended Flint Community College and worked for Buick Division of General Motors.  Upon their marriage, and after Dick graduated from General Motors Institute, they moved across the country with Pontiac Division.  In 1987, Dick retired from General Motors and they moved to River Hills of Lake Wylie,SC.

Darla had a deep love for competitive bridge, golf, needlework for cancer patients, spending time with her family and was known for her famous peanut brittle and HOT mustard.

She was an active member of the River Hills Community Church for 30 years and served as an usher, in VBS, and was a member of the Care and Kindness Committee.
