Please accept our deepest sympathies. Please know that your grief is shared by many and most especially by the God of Heaven and Earth, Jehovah God.

His inspired words say that he yearns to bring Mr. Burdette back to life. (Job 14:14,15) For God promises to "wipe out every tear" and that "death will be no more." (Revelation 21:3,4) Jehovah God also assures us that He is "near to those that are broken at heart." (Psalms 34:18)

These faithful and true words are of comfort to my husband and I. It is our prayer that they comfort you as well.

Lamar was one of my best friend for over 40 years. I feel very fortunate . We go back to when our daughters were in Indian Princess together. Lamar and I were talking one day when he mention he and Marry were having a anniversary in a few days. I ask when? He told me, and that just happen to be my wife and myself anniversary. Same Day, Same Month, Same Year. We all went to Nashville, Tenn. the next year to celebrate that big day. What a great family Lamar had and he knew it. My family will certainly miss him.

We will dearly miss this wonderful neighbor and friend. Lamar and Mary have truly been a blessing in our lives. We enjoyed many morning and afternoon lawn chats when taking out our pets. They quickly became family to us and we love them both. Our hearts go out to Mary and his family at this time of loss.

Our hearts rejoice in our risen Savior Jesus Christ. Because He lives, and Lamar believed, we know Lamar is alive and well. This separation is only for a little while. We will see him again.

Mary, Brandon, Bridgette, and family, our thoughts and prayers remain with you during your time of loss.

I genuinely regret your loss. I hope that in due time your family receives God’s peace that excels all thought, so that it will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. God is called the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation. Rest assured that God cares for all his creatures and he would never bring us suffering. A soothing scripture I like is Psalm 34:18 which reads: “Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” He promised that in the Paradise, we will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free from all problems, accidents, and sickness. Even our dead loved ones like Dewitt will be resurrected. (Psalm 37:9, 29; John 5:28, 29) With all my sympathy.

Mary---I was saddened to read of Lamar's passing. Being a widow myself I fully understand the ache in your heart and the deep sense of loss you must be feeling. I can't attend the service on Saturday but you and your family are in my thoughts.

I retired as Purchasing Manager for PPG Industries after 25 years but have continued to consult with PPG for the past 8 years. I cannot even remember when I first had the pleasure to meet Lamar and formed not only a business relationship but also a personal friendship. It may have been in the late 70's. Over the years I have worked with many company representatives providing products, technical expertise and service to their customer. Lamar was head and shoulders above anyone else in supporting my needs and the needs of the company. He was the model I judged others against. No one ever met these high expectations. Lamar was without a doubt the most honest, sincere, pleasant and hard working person one could ever ask for in a business relationship. Lamar would stop by to see me in Lexington, NC once in awhile when he was going back and forth to Duke. He always made me feel good no matter his condition. A true gentlemen of which you can all be very proud to have had as a husband, father and grandfather. God bless Lamar and all of you.
