Gene Jenkins

Neil Eugene “Gene” Jenkins, 86 of Cedar Grove Rd., passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at home.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2016 at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Clover, SC.  Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service.

Mr. Jenkins was born April 10, 1930 in Clover, SC to the late Clarence Neil and Willie McFarland Jenkins.  Gene retired from the Navy after 22 years of service, he was also retired from the York County Sheriff’s Department and the Clover Police Department.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sherry Staton and Dyanna Hoffman and a brother, Fred Jenkins.

Survivors are his wife Lynn McGrath Jenkins of Clover, SC; daughters Susan Byrd (Danny) of Charlotte, NC, Kelly Weiss (John) of Florence, SC; sons Donald Jenkins of Charlotte, NC, Fred Hoffman, III (Beth) of Clover, SC, Ty Hoffman of Alabama; brother Billy Max Jenkins (Joyce) of York, SC; nieces Charlene Cantrell, Lisa Jenkins; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 117 S. Main Street, Clover, SC 29710.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Lillian Rainey and Mattie Burton with HomeBridge, Alice with Provident Hospice, and the staff from Gentevia.
