Harry "Buzz" John Krause

February 20, 1940 ~ December 2, 2016 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Harry “Buzz” John Krause, entered heaven on December 2, 2016.  Buzz was born February 20, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Harry William Krause and Naomi Fisher Krause.  Buzz graduated from Penncrest High School in Media, PA and attended California State College in Pittsburgh, PA.  Buzz is survived by his wife of 52 years, Suzanne Stewart Krause and his son Hans, daughter in-law Alyson and grandchildren, Soren, Augustine, Elijah, Zacharias and Naomi of Lake Wylie, SC and sister, Naomi Ann Dresden of PA.

Buzz’s father was a pioneer in broadcasting in Philadelphia and as a youngster, Buzz often traveled with him for film projects where he learned to be a great photographer and race car enthusiast.  Buzz was owner of Philadelphia Grating Co, Carolina Grating Co (steel fabrication) and Rae Crowther Football and Strength of Rock Hill, SC.  He and his son Hans acquired many patents on football practice equipment designed to ensure the fitness and safety of players throughout the world.

For many years Buzz was an active member of the Pennsylvania National Guard, Maxwell Club, Phila, the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor, NJ, The Philadelphia Iron League, Musgrove Mill Golf Club and the River Hills Country Club, Lake Wylie.  He was on the board of the York County Gas Company.

Buzz loved working in the sports business, traveled the Southeast with his son kart racing, enjoyed golf,  was an avid reader and loyal friend.  His private sports collection was museum quality and was enjoyed by many over the years.  His collection began when he was eight years old and he appeared as a young collector in the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper. 

Buzz fought a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make a donation to the new Lake Wylie Sports Complex, checks payable to LW Recreation, PO Box 5299, Lake Wylie, SC 29710.

An Episcopalian service will take place Friday, December 9th at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Sally Franklin officiating at St. Paul’s Church, 501 Pine Street, Fort Mill, SC 29716, followed by a reception at the River Hills Country Club, Lake Wylie, SC 29710.

Burial will be private at White Marsh Cemetery, Phila, PA.  The Krause Family thanks everyone for their prayers during the past two months.
