John E Towle

Mr. John E. Towle, 90, of The Pines of Davison, NC passed away Friday, June 9, 2017.

The family will receive friends 4:30 pm Monday, June 12, 2017 at The Pines, 400 Avinger Lane, Davidson, NC.

Mr. Towle was born May 29, 1927 in Burlington, Vermont, the son of the late A. Clyde and Ruby Greer Towle.  He graduated from The University of Vermont in 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.  He was employed by various subsidiaries of the Columbia Gas System for 38 years.  He held various engineering and supervisory positions in Columbus, Ohio, New York City, and Wilmington, Delaware, retired in 1988 as President of the Columbia LNG Corporation and the Columbia Hydrocarbon Corporation.

During World War II, Mr. Towle served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.  He attended the United Methodist Church of Davidson.  He was former member of the River Hills Country Club of Lake Wylie, SC.

Survivors are his wife Marilyn Crawford Towle; daughters Patricia Towle of Atlanta, GA, Kimberly Olsson of Charlotte, NC, Laura Towle of Cornelius, NC, Kristin Wilson of Davidson, NC, Nancy Towle of Burlington, VT; and grandchildren Ted, Peter & Jack Olsson, Ana, Samuel, & Zoe Wilson and Seth Schneehagen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Navy – Marine Corps Relief Society.
