 Kenneth (Ken) Michael Wilson, Sr., 54, of Clover, SC left this world on February 11, 2017. Born October 18, 1962 in Gastonia, NC to Wayne and Barbara Wilson of Smyrna, SC, Ken spent most of his life serving his community of Smyrna and Lake Wylie. Ken became a volunteer fireman at the age of 14 and was a lifetime member of Smyrna Fire Department, rising to the rank of Assistant Fire Chief. Ken also volunteered many hours in his earlier years with York Rescue Squad and Hickory Grove Lifesaving as an EMT. Ken made his career serving the public throughout his life. He was a full-time paramedic with Cherokee County EMS, Chester County EMS, Piedmont Medical Center EMS and Richland County EMS.

Ken retired from full-time work following several back surgeries but continued to serve his community by joining River Hills/Lake Wylie EMS as a paramedic and rising to the level of President and the EMS Director. After serving several years with the squad, Ken went on to pursue his other passion which was to enrich the lives of children through sports. He was appointed to the board of Lake Wylie Athletic Association (LWAA) and later became the board’s president. Under his leadership, LWAA grew and flourished providing a variety of sporting opportunities including football, cheerleading, soccer, baseball and basketball to over 4000 children in the Lake Wylie area.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sheela Bhat Wilson; sons, Kenneth MichaelWilson,Jr (Ashley) of York, SC and Brandon Trey Wilson(Jaylene) of Clover, SC; sister, Marie W. Baird (Gene) of York, SC; brother, Rickey Wilson (Jane) of Smyrna, SC; five grandchildren, Kenneth Michael (Cole) Wilson, III of the home who he and Sheela raised as a son, Aubrey Grace Wilson, Konner Trey Wilson, Ryleigh, and Tobias.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be 2:00 pm Saturday February 18, 2017 at the River Hills Community Church, 104 Hamilton’s Ferry Rd, Lake Wylie, SC.
