Mattie Harris Capps

Mattie Harris Capps, age 83 of Charlotte, NC passed away June 14, 2016  after a lengthy, courageous battle with leukemia and a short battle with another cancer at Wayne Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill, SC

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Friday June 17, 2016 at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC, with the Rev. Dr. Bob Jack officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.   

Mrs. Capps was born April 12, 1933 in Sylva, NC to the late Gilmer and Edora Eller Harris. 

Mrs. Capps graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, then UNCC Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program.  She was a blessing to many young moms and babies until she retired.  During retirement she enjoyed her family, camping, extensive traveling, volunteering at Red Cross and her church.  She was an avid reader and gardener.  

Mrs. Capps is survived by her husband of 60 years S. Robert “Bob” Capps, Sr. daughters Bobbie Luckadoo (Bob) of Shelby, Patsy Brandon (Terry) of Charlotte, son Sam Capps Jr.  (Marilyn) of Lake Wylie, SC grandchildren: Joshua, Callie, Annie Luckadoo, Andy (April) Brandon, Jennifer (Louie) Cadwell, Brittany (T.J.) Deputy, Chloe and Kaylee Capps, great grandchildren: Maddie Hetzel, Mason Brandon and Riley Cadwell and sister Nancy Catena of Cherryville.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 15000 York Road, Charlotte, NC 28278.
