Mildred (Hopper) Oates

Mildred Hopper Oates, 89 of Gastonia, NC passed away Friday, August 19, 2016 at the home of her daughter.

Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday August 21, 2016 at Crowders Creek A.R.P. Church with the Rev. Stuart Fowler officiating.  Interment will be in the Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service.

Mrs. Oates was born October 10, 1926 in Rock Hill, SC to the late Rufus Bratton and Etta Mae Morrison Hopper.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Reid Oates; daughter, Robin Anita Oates; sisters, Crystal Sipe, Myrtle Williams, and Margaret Gordon.

Survivors are her daughter, Ginny O. Styers (David); grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth Styers and David Reid Styers all of Gastonia, NC; sister, Ann Ipock and husband, Tommy of Gastonia; brother R.B. Hopper Jr. of Clover.
