Naomi Barrett Baird, 97 of the Bethel Community, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Westminster Health and Rehabilitation Center, Rock Hill, SC.

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m.  Saturday, August 22nd at Woodside Cemetery followed by a service of praise at the Clover A.R.P. Church at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Evan English officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.

She was the wife of the late William S. Baird and the daughter of William M. and Mary Barber Barrett.
Born March 28, 1918, Naomi graduated from Clover High School in 1935.  She was a product of her time.  Frugal, loyal, faithful, loving and hardworking, she accepted nothing less from her family.  After living in Michigan with Bill at his posting during Work War II, she returned to Bethel and settled into life as a southern farmer’s wife, raising three sons Don (Nancy), Joe (Sandy), and Sam (AJ), who survive her.  She also spent many hours running Five Points Grocery, the family business.

Naomi was an active, lifelong member of the Clover A.R.P. Church, teaching Sunday school, evening youth groups and Bible School.  She was an active member of her circle and a life member of the Women’s Synodical Union (Women of the Church).  She loved attending the annual conferences in Bonclarken.

In her community, Naomi was a leader in the Bethel Home Demonstration Club and served as County President, attending many state meetings as a delegate and arranging many award winning booths in the York County Fair.

In addition to her sons, Naomi is survived by seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister-like niece, Jane Barrett Burrell and sister-in-law Kitty Quinn Barrett.  She was preceded in death by six brothers Austin “Teener”, Eugene “Eck”, Woodman, Cecil, Fred, and Archie Brown Barrett; and two sisters-in-law Ruth Baird Funderburk, and Sara Baird Breakfield.

Memorials made to the Clover A.R.P. Church, 127 Kings Mountain Street, Clover, SC  29710 or to one’s favorite charity will be appreciated.
