William Edward Thompson

William Edward “Eddie” Thompson, 76, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center, Pineville, NC.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bob Jack officiating.  Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 – 2:30 at the Church.

Mr. Thompson was born April 23, 1939 in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late Andrew Marion Thompson, Sr. and Lavine Harper Thompson.  He was a 1957 graduate of West Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte, NC.  He worked for Vincent Metals and retired from Ryerson Metal Co., Charlotte, NC.  He was a member of Stump Town Tractor Club and was a collector and restorer of antique tractors.

Survivors are his wife Barbara Cunnup Thompson; daughters Wendy T. Williams of Midland, NC, Cindy Hyatt of Rock Hill, SC, Pam Rainey of Spartanburg, SC, Lisa Bolen & Linda Koehn both of Charlotte, NC; brother Andrew Marion Thompson, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; fourteen grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, 15000 York Road, Charlotte, NC 28278.
