Mr. Clyde Ray Carson, 86, of Clover, SC, passed away Monday, March 11, 2024 at Peak Resources, Cherryville, NC.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024 at Mountain View Baptist Church, 1560 Piedmont Road, Blacksburg, SC. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
Mr. Carson was born May 14, 1937 in China Grove, NC to the late Luther Lee and Pansy Fender Carson. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran. Ray was a member of the Teamsters Local, his union number was #71. He drove for Akers Motor Lines and Transcon Line for 32 years before retiring. He was awarded the Excellence of Driving award for two million miles with no accidents. He was an enthusiast, master mechanic and custom restorer. He could restore any type of Volkswagen and shared this passion with his youngest daughter, Lori. He thoroughly enjoyed going to car shows to compete and was so pleased when their VW Bug won first place in several competitions.
Ray loved his family more than words can say. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. And he loved his kitty “Ada Lou”.
Survivors are his wife Doris Harmon Carson; daughters Resa Carson Champion (Tony) and Lori Carson Austin both of Clover, SC; grandchildren Michael Champion (Mandy) and Chrysti Champion; and great grandchildren Brandon Bradford, Chloe Short, Tyler Champion, and Dylan Champion.
