Richard Rhyne Obituary

Mr. Richard Leonard Rhyne, 80, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Clover, SC, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the Levine Dickson Hospice House, Charlotte, NC.

The funeral service will be at 12 noon Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Neely’s Creek A.R.P. Church, 974 Neely’s Creek Rd. Rock Hill, SC with the Rev. Matt Joldersma officiating.  Interment will be in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon before the service in the Church sanctuary.

Mr. Rhyne was born December 8, 1943, in Clover, SC, to the late Leonard Luther “L.L.” Rhyne and Lucy Althelda Pearson Rhyne. His sisters, Betty Sue Rhyne Whitesides and Barbara Alice Rhyne Shillinglaw preceded him in death.

Survivors are his daughter “Libby” Elizabeth Karen Qureshi (Omar) of Weddington, NC; son Charles Leonard Rhyne (Christy) of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren Caleb Rhyne (Taylor), Hannah Lavender (Derek), Rebekah Rhyne, Joshua Rhyne, Monica (Sam) Rhoten, Emily Qureshi, and Harrison Qureshi; and great-grandchildren Carter Lavender, Kaden Lavender, Boyd Rhyne, and Waylon Leonard Rhyne.

As an infant, Mr. Rhyne was baptized at Crowders Creek A.R.P. Church, Gastonia, NC. He was a lifelong member of the A.R.P. Church, serving as an Elder, Deacon, and Treasurer. At his passing, Mr. Rhyne was a Neely’s Creek A.R.P. Church member. His love for Christ was evident in his daily life as he witnessed to everyone he met.

Mr. Rhyne was educated in Clover School District #2, Montreat College, and North Carolina State University. He was a lifelong fan and alumnus of NC State, where he received a degree in

Applied Agriculture for Livestock Management and Technology. Go Pack! He worked in the poultry and swine industry, where he developed one of the largest swine farms in SC and was often referred to as a “Turkey Doctor.” He worked in the construction industry, overseeing the construction of Turkey buildings and single-family homes.
