Welcome to the memorial page for

Bonnie Lee (Groth) Panneton

March 19, 2017

Bonnie Lee Panneton died peacefully on March 19, 2017 at the age of 94.  Born in Ordway, Colorado on May 17, 1922 she was the oldest and only daughter of five children to Charles Louis and Iva Fern Groth in La Juanta, Colorado.  In 1940 in Colfax, New Mexico, she married Robert Louis Panneton from Denver (now deceased).  Bob and Bonnie then spent the next 71 years together as spouses, parents, best friends, and constant companions.  Together (ok, mostly mom), they raised, nurtured and loved 7 children: Bonnie Nell Heywood (Fred) – deceased; Kathie Spivey (Phil), Kirk Panneton, Rebecca Panneton, Robin Panneton (Lee Cooper), Mark Panneton (Nicole), and Jennie Cahill; 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren – and we’re not done yet!  Throughout this impressive lineage, she was affectionately known as Mom, Mollie, Monnie, Grandma, and Grandma Mollie.  She is also survived by one beloved brother, Gerald Groth of Colorado Springs, and several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie and Bob lived in various locations as they forged their lives together (Denver, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Lake Wylie, and Rock Hill). Bonnie was a devout Catholic who raised her children with love and compassion.  She balanced her strict parenting with endless fun and laughter – occasionally peppered with a nice cold glass of white zinfandel.  She managed to balance her domestic commitments with endless volunteer work at her various churches and children’s schools, as well as other community efforts.  Across all the various stages of her life, she was as loving as she was loved.  In addition to her family, she also leaves behind many wonderful friends, neighbors, and staff at Park Pointe Village in Rock Hill, SC. She was endlessly grateful for all of the thoughtfulness and care that came her way in these last years.

Bonnie’s funeral mass will be on Saturday, April 1, 2017, 1:00 at Saint Philip Neri Church in Fort Mill, SC.  A visitation will take place on Friday, March 31, 2017, 5:00-7:00 PM at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Lake Wylie.  She will live on forever in the minds and hearts of her children and extended family.  We aspire to live out our lives in her spirit.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 993,  Rock Hill, SC, 29731.
