Gordon Oliver Dedrick, age 70, passed away on November 16, 2018 at his home in Lake Wylie SC. He was preceded in death by his mother Blanche (Knapp) and stepfather, Merritt Hart. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carole, his daughter Nicole (Chad) Kessler, and three beautiful grandchildren - Avery, Carson, and Audrey Kessler. He is also survived by a sister Ellen (Todd) Adolph, two nephews, an aunt, and several cousins.

Gordon was born in Brooklyn, NY. His parents were apple farmers, and he had a wonderful childhood growing up on an apple orchard in Poughkeepsie New York. He graduated from Arlington High School and continued his education at Clarkson College. He proudly attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and lived his life adhering to the motto to honor God, country, and all mankind. His career in the retail business led him to Florida for 25 years, and the birth of his grandchildren ultimately took him to the Carolinas to be close to his family.

Gordon’s passion was old British automobiles. He was a member of the Triumph Club of the Carolinas, and took pride is his position as Charlotte Region Vice President. Any day that he could drive his TR3 was a great day, especially with a grandchild or two in the car with him.

A special heartfelt thank you to everyone at Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, Palmetto Region, especially Gordon’s nurse Sue, who filled his final journey with compassion, comfort, and wonderful care. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at ML Ford Funeral Home, 4820 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie SC 29710.
