Mrs. Ann Marie Toohey Rau, 82, of Matthews, North Carolina, formerly of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022, in Matthews, North Carolina.

Mrs. Rau was born August 10, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, New York to the late Timothy Joseph Toohey and Julia Mary Horgan Toohey. 

Ann Marie is survived by her husband, Robert Frederic Rau; her sister, Sheila M. Tepedino (Salvatore) of Matthews, NC; and her nephews, Michael, Timothy, and Salvatore.

Ann Marie held managerial positions in purchasing, customer service, and logistics for Western Electric Corp., Sealed Air Corp., Rexam Corp, and other manufacturing companies.  She was a graduate of American Management Association (AMA) for Women.

She was also a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O) of Lake Wylie, providing female students with scholarships and grants to further their education and accomplish their goals.  She was a sponsor for the Clover High School Choraliers, a member of the Clover Area Assistance Center Gala Committee, the All Saints Catholic Church, Martha’s and Mary’s Ministry, a Board member of the River Hills Women’s Club, the Book Club, and various other social groups.  For everyone that knew Ann Marie, she will be remembered for her kindness and a loving person always extending her hand to help others.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023 at All Saints Catholic Church, Lake Wylie, SC.
