Mr. Avery Garfield Goode, Sr., 91, of Clover, SC, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at home.

Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2021 at Bowling Green Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Clover, SC with the Rev. John Muse and Rev. Alisa Johnson officiating.  Due to Covid, the family will not have a formal visitation but will greet friends at the cemetery.  Anyone is welcome to stop by the funeral home to pay their respects from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Thursday or 9:00 am – 12:00 p.m. Friday.

Avery G. Goode, Sr. was born August 19, 1930 in Clover, SC to the late Abram Garfield Goode and Emma Nanney Goode Smith.  Avery enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in July of 1951 and served with honor, until his discharge in September of 1962.  He was a Korean War Veteran and served on Presidential Security teams.  Avery graduated from George T. Baker Aviation Mechanics School, Miami, FL in 1971 and was employed by Westinghouse, Charlotte, NC until his retirement.  Following retirement, Avery took on several jobs, such as Clover School Crossing Guard, M. L. Ford & Sons, Kings Mountain State Park and volunteered as a Clover High School cross country running coach. 

He loved go-carts, motorcycles, anything with an engine, biking, running and spending time with his many dear friends.

Survivors are his wife of 70 years Ann Carroll Goode; son Avery Goode, Jr. and his wife Lu Coulter; daughter Althea Goode Huggins and her husband Michael Huggins; grandchildren Drew (Samm), Madeline, Rachel (Taylor), Quincy, Jansen, Madison, Conrad; great grandson Remy; bonus grandchildren Rebecca, Spencer, Casey and Ella Forrest; sisters-in-law Barbara and Bev; brother-in-law Jack; nephews Bob (Bev), Jim C. (Sue), Jim B. (Sara), Michael (Lauren), Tommy (Lynne), Charles; and nieces Judy (Kelton), Terry (Fred), Linda (Lee), LeeAnn, Cheryl (Wade), and Lynn.
