Mrs. Betty Lou Odom Mabry Turner, 91, best known as Mama, Nannie or Miss Betty passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at home surrounded by her family. With reassurance from Howard that everything was going to be okay. Miss Betty needed one final 10 o’clock check-in with Penny and proved to Tee that she could indeed go out after dark.
Born on February 27, 1935, in Winnsboro, South Carolina. Betty was the daughter of Bart and Mary Ann Odom. She was full of life and enjoyed caring for others, spoiling babies and children and a good laugh. Betty was a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Betty will be remembered for her caring spirit, her honesty, her exuberance, and her determination.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her first husband Claude Mabry; her sisters, Bonnie Coleman, Doris Broome and Maxine Blackwood.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Cecil Turner; son Robbie Mabry (Cinda), daughters, Penny Ward, Terri Collins, and Robin Hope (Ronnie). Her grandchildren Crystal Adkinson (Matt), Timothy Mabry, Tanieka Akabane (Austin), Christina Scuitto (Justin), Janie Rowe (Jason), Cassie Yon, and Jeremy Hope (Sara). Great grandchildren Cody Wallace, Anthony Adkinson, Maybry Akabane, Lily Scuitto, Brooklyn Young (Micah), Korbin Rowe, Bryce Yon, Bailey Yon, Olivia Yon, Nova Hope and Eden Hope. Great-great grandson Levi Young.
Betty’s legacy lives on through the family she lovingly nurtured and the countless memories she created with grace, warmth, and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved her.
Nannie, just blame this way too wordy obituary and all those pictures on Tee.
