It is with deep sorrow that the family of Brenton (Brent) Russell Connolly, 53, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, announces his unexpected passing on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at University Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Born on November 23, 1972, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Brent was the cherished son of Mary Burton Moore and the late Russell Wayne Connolly. From an early age, Brent’s gentle nature and generous heart were evident to all who knew him.
Brent spent much of his professional life working in financial technology with various banks, traveling throughout the country. He loved deeply—people and animals alike—and truly never met a stranger. He cherished long walks with his beloved miniature Schnauzer, Jackson, who preceded him in death in 2023. Known as a kind and gentle soul, Brent had an open heart and a remarkable capacity for empathy that made others feel seen, valued, and cared for. His warmth and quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Brent is survived by his husband, Carlos Alberto Garcia, and their “four legged angel”, as he would call him, Thumper; his mother, Mary B. Moore (Danny Blevins) of York, South Carolina; his in-laws, Carlos (Estela) Garcia, who loved and thought of him as their bonus son; his siblings, Kristen M. Hanks (Bob) and beloved nephew, Carter, Anthony Lee Moore (Joy), Kimberly Moore, and Angela Weaver (Marcus); his cousin, Misty Jane Layel; and many cherished extended family and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Brent’s life and honor the love he shared so freely.
M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home of Clover, South Carolina, is serving the family of Mr. Connolly.
Brent’s legacy lives on in every life he touched, and every heart forever changed by knowing him.
