Mrs. Carmela “Millie” Uva Decker, 96, of Lake Wylie, SC, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Lake Wylie Assisted Living, Lake Wylie, SC.
A memorial service will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, Lake Wylie, SC on Friday, October 22 at 12:30.
She was affectionately known as “Millie” by her family and friends. Millie was born April 4, 1925 in Newark, NJ to the late Rafael and Michelina Ferro Uva. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward Bernard Decker and a daughter, Sharon Antoinette Decker.
Millie and Ed spent most of their life raising their family in Wyckoff, NJ and Mt. Lakes, NJ before relocating to River Hills, Lake Wylie, SC in 1984. Millie loved summer vacations in Hilton Head Island with as many family members joining her as possible. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family that continues to grow.
She is survived by her daughters Marlene Anne Stephenson (Robert), Laura Anne Schaefer (James), and Michele Anne Carney (Robert Runde); sons Edward George Decker (Kathryn Stuart Nicolson) and Robert Ralph Decker (Cynthia); grandchildren Travis Stephenson (Cara), Ryan Stephenson (Rebecca), Colin Stephenson (Sarah), Mary Tarsitano (Tommy), William Decker (Bailey), Bryan Decker (Alyssa), Jerrica Decker, Jaclyn Wallace (Terry), Sharon Carney, Sean Carney (Toni), Joseph Carney (Lauren), Carl Schaefer, James Schaefer, and Carley Schaefer; and soon to be eighteen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Millie was deeply loved by the many that knew her and the many that also called her Mom. She will be missed by all.
The family is grateful to the many caregivers of Agape Hospice and Lake Wylie Assisted Living for her loving care during her final years.
