Carolyn Shoemaker Obituary

Mrs. Carolyn Jean (Laessle) Shoemaker, 68, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, after a short battle with another breast cancer diagnosis.

Carolyn was born on August 31, 1957, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Robert Lee and Deloris Ann (Menear) Laessle. She lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and a deep love for her family. Carolyn had a remarkable way of making everyone feel cared for and special, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to those she loved.

For 50 years, Carolyn shared a loving marriage with her husband, Terry Ray Shoemaker. Together they built a life rooted in family, loyalty, and unwavering support for one another.

Carolyn was a devoted mother and an incredibly proud grandmother. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her daughter, Jennifer, and her three grandchildren, Ava, Amelia, and Jack. Carolyn showed her love in countless ways that will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her husband, Terry; her daughter, Jennifer Todd and her husband Alan of Weddington, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Ava Todd, Amelia Todd, and Jack Todd; her sister, Nancy Shoemaker and her husband Mark; and her brother, Robert Laessle and his wife Loretta.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Shoemaker, whom she loved deeply.

Carolyn will be remembered as a loving wife, caring mother, proud grandmother, supportive sister, and a true friend to many. Her gentle spirit, thoughtful heart, and unconditional love will remain in the lives of all who knew her.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at a later date.
