Mrs. Cecil Broom Settlemyre, 80, of Clover, SC, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024 at home.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church, 124 Bethel Street, Clover, SC with the Rev. Michael Walker and Rev. Irvin Plowden, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 9:45 to 10:45 in the Atrium.
Mrs. Settlemyre was born July 19, 1944 in Great Falls, SC to the late Isaac and Ruby Ogburn Broom. She was the widow of Walter “Sonny” Settlemyre, the love of her life. Cecil was a type setter for the Charlotte Observer and retired after 34 years. She volunteered for the First United Methodist Church for 5 years and loved every minute of it.
She was also preceded in death by her sister and her very very best friend, Edith B. King and her first grandson, Jeffrey McCarter.
Survivors are her daughter Heather Higgins of Concord, NC; special family caregivers, Britt & Jennifer Humphries of York, SC; grandchildren Sadie McCarter, Sawyer Sherrill, & Daisy Templeton; great grandchildren Jaxon McCarter, Stella McCarter & Bowen McCarter; special great niece, Megan Black (Dylan) & children, Sawyer & Jack Dylan; and nephew Donald Easler.
