Donald Armstrong Obituary

Mr. Donald Gaston Armstrong, 82, of Clover, SC, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021, at home.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2021, at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 4820 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie, SC with the Rev. Lonnie Harris officiating.  Interment will be in Allison Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Mr. Armstrong was born August 10, 1939, in Rock Hill, SC to the late Charlie Armstrong and Lucille Burton Pruitt.  He was raised by his beloved grandmother, Mary Jane “Janie” Burton.  He proudly served his County in the U. S. Army and Reserves during the 1960’s.  Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Louise Tiller Armstrong and his youngest daughter, Amanda Lee Armstrong.

Mr. Armstrong worked many years as a golf cart mechanic at River Hills Country Club and then went on to work for Rock Hill Coca Cola until his retirement in 2008. He was well known in the Bluegrass community.  For more than 50 years, he played the guitar with several bands including his own, Don Armstrong and The Bluegrass Travelers. 

Survivors are his daughter Angela A. Murphy and son in law, Alan of Charlotte, NC.
