Donna Currie Garrison, 75, of Lake Wylie, SC passed away due to complications of pancreatic cancer on June 6, 2024. 

Donna was born on August 17, 1948, to Dewitt and Frances Currie in Whiteville, NC.  She moved to Charlotte, NC when she was a baby.  She graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1966 and went on to attend Campbell College where she majored in music.  Donna was a cosmetologist and the salon co-owner with her mother Frances of Cottage of Hair Fashion for over 40 years.   

Donna met the love of her life, Eddie Garrison, in 1971.  They were married in October of 1973, and raised two daughters, Mandy and Kimber, together. Donna and Eddie built their dream house and moved to Lake Wylie in 2014. Traveling to the mountains and the Caribbean, and spending time with their children and grandchildren were some of the great joys in their 50+ years together.

Donna enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends.  She spent many years as a national activist against drunk driving while working with Coors Brewing Company and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.  She worked with the American Cancer Society and shared her talents in helping cancer patients through the struggle of losing their hair and finding a wig.  Donna was very active in church and her religious journey was very important to her.  She taught Sunday School at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church.  She was an elder at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church and served as the assistant youth choir director for many years.  She spent her remaining years as an active member at Community Church of Lake Wylie.  She participated in The Walk to Emmaus and said it was one of her most uplifting moments. 

She is survived by her husband Eddie Garrison, daughter Kimber Biles (Joshua) and two grandsons Liam and Luke Biles all of Lake Wylie, SC; brother Dewitt Lee Currie Jr. (Lizabeth) of Lake Wylie, SC, and Archie Todd Currie (Brittany) of Charleston, SC.   

Donna was preceded in death by her daughter Amanda Ellen Garrison, and her parents.  

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 11 at the Community Church at Lake Wylie in Lake Wylie, SC with the Rev. Bob Jack officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am before the service at the Church.  A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 1600 Mallard Creek Church Road, Charlotte, NC with the Rev. Rob Watkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Donna requested that memorials be made in her memory to the organizations or charities that are most important to you.
