Douglas Edward Ducsay passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 31, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Doug was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Edward and Elizabeth Ducsay on December 23, 1953. He married Louise Portman on August 23, 1975, and she survives in Lake Wyle, South Carolina.
Other survivors include his daughter, Danielle of Wilmington, North Carolina; son, Johnathan (Elizabeth) of Charlotte, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Fitz and Cece Ducsay; sister, Dawn (Patrick) Gorman of Avon Lake, Ohio, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents and in-laws Robert and Marie Portman.
Doug was a graduate of Edison High School (1971) where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He furthered his education at Miami University of Ohio (1975), with a Bachelor of Science in Education, and Bowling Green State University (1981) with a Master’s degree in Education.
Doug was a passionate educator teaching for over 30 years for Tiffin City Schools, where he taught geography, civics, government, and social studies. He was an active and respected basketball coach, community volunteer, and ambassador for Junior Achievement. Doug really enjoyed his co-workers and created many lifelong friendships throughout the years.
Doug was always known for sense of humor and was quick with his one-liners. He had a love for dogs, sports knowledge, reading his newspapers and completing crossword puzzles. He had a passion for golf and was a member of Mohawk Golf and Country Club and River Hills Country Club. Doug liked to try new recipes, cook dinner regularly, and enjoy meals with his family while watching Jeopardy.
Most of all Doug loved spending time with his family, friends, and dog who will all miss him dearly.

Funeral services for Doug will be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday, June 7th, 2024 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Tiffin, Ohio, with a reception to follow at the Pioneer Mill, 255 Riverside Dr. in Tiffin, from 12:30 to 2:30 PM.
