Mrs. Eleanor Ann Bostick, “Ellie” to many and “Cookie” to some, of Charlotte, NC, gained victory over her battle with cancer and went to be with our Heavenly Father on January 11, 2024.
Ellie was born on October 20, 1946, in Natrona Heights, PA, to the late Michael Guris and Antonia Pawloski. She lived in Pennsylvania, Illinois and Ohio before making Charlotte her home in 1993. She worked a vibrant career in Human Resources prior to settling in as Executive Assistant to the Founder and President of Price Brothers Plumbing where she served Bob and his family loyally for the past 28 years. She was steadfast, efficient, and highly detailed in her work. The business grew exponentially during her tenure, in part because of the structure, communication, organization, and love that she infused into the business and its people.
She was an active and dedicated member of Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church serving as a Deacon and Elder. She was the Co-Moderator for Circle of Friends for 17 years. She chaired the Fellowship Committee and began and chaired the Congregational Care Committee. She volunteered for everything, and every detail mattered because people mattered.
She was the matriarch of her family, known and loved as “Gabby.” She never let the distance from her family keep her from being close. Her self-less love, guidance, support and interest in her children’s, grand and great-grandchildren’s lives was evident to all who knew her. Her impact and influence on their lives is immeasurable and her presence will be greatly missed. Ellie never met a stranger, and her kind and self-less heart was loved and will be missed by so many long-time friends, neighbors and acquaintances. Ellie would, in her own observant way, know when you were off-center, and would always step in to help balance and comfort when the times called for that loving support...when you weren't thinking of yourself, Ellie was thinking of you. When she wasn’t busy taking care of someone else, she enjoyed sitting on her back porch with George watching the many birds, bunnies, and deer that frequented their backyard paradise.
She leaves behind cherished memories that will be treasured by her loved ones forever. The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpour of love and support from Ellie’s church, work, neighborhood, and immediate family. It has been truly overwhelming.
She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, George Edward Bostick; her daughter, Tammy Joy Lee (T.J.), Pinson, AL; her son, Thomas Jay Davis, Jr. (Linda), Webster Groves, MO; her grandchildren, Tyler Davis, Tanner Davis, Kylie Cody (Matt), Kendall Tardo (Chris), and Kayden Bungo; her great-grandchildren, Ellie Rae Marquand, Vada Joy Tardo, Mary Kate Tardo, Eli Thomas Cody, and Wells Matthew Cody; and her brothers, James and Robert Guris. She is also preceded in death by her granddaughter Kaci Davis.
A service will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, 9401 South Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC, with the Rev. Mark Lee officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service beginning at 10:00 am.
