Mrs. Elizabeth Pittman Mayer, 91, of York, SC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2019.

A celebration of life service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Carmel Baptist Church, 1145 Pineville-Matthews Road, Matthews, NC 28105.  The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service at the Church.

A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, 2140 McBee Highway, Jefferson, SC 29718.

Mrs. Mayer was born August 28, 1928 in Flat Creek, SC to the late Laban and Blanche Holly Pittman.

She was very active in her church, Carmel Baptist Church and was so happy working in the Wee School where she made so many loving memories while taking care and nurturing the children.

She loved to work in her rose garden and watching her results come to life every spring. She looked forward to the holidays and birthdays every year and enjoyed so much getting together with family.

She was employed at Grace United Methodist Church as a secretary, and retired from Duke Power/Crescent Resources in 1993, and worked part time at Carmel Baptist Church in the Wee School Ministry until retiring again in 2014. Mrs. Mayer will be remembered by all of her family and friends as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors are her son Terry Wentz (Pamela) of York, SC; grandchildren Chris Wentz (Roxane) of Belmont NC, Matthew Wentz of Charlotte, NC, Richard Dyer of San Francisco, CA and Katie Penta (Tony) of Charleston SC; and great grandchildren Sienna and Alexandra Penta, Avery and Davis Wentz, and son in law Chip Dyer of Greenwood, SC.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mayer was preceded in death by husbands James Mayer and Robert Wentz of Charlotte, NC; daughter Wanda Dyer of Greenwood, SC; brother William Pittman; sisters Selena Knight of Kershaw SC, Alene Parks of Troutman NC, and Eleta Richardson of Charlotte NC.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Lake Wylie Assisted Living and Agape Hospice for their support and love during this time.
