Mrs. Frances Burns Bowman, 82, of Clover, SC, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024 at White Oak Manor, York, SC.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Woodside Cemetery with the Rev. Lisa Johnson and Rev. Dr. John Muse officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside.
Mrs. Bowman was born December 27, 1941 in Gastonia, NC to the late Leland Smith and Mary Clinton Burns. She was the widow of Eugene H. Bowman, who died after 37 years of marriage in 2012. She was a lifelong member of the Clover Presbyterian Church where she was active until her health prevented her attendance.
Even though she had periods of poor health, she was the family caregiver, having cared for her sister, Beth, during her battle with pancreatic cancer and her daddy, who preferred her care above any others. He said it just came natural to her.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Beth Burns Ruppe, brother, Robert Edward Burns, and nephews, Chuck Burns and Matthew Bryant.
Survivors are her sister Sarah Burns Jackson and her husband Tom; sisters-in-law Virginia Burns and Kay Jackson; and her beloved Burns and Bowman nieces and nephews including the nephew who held her heart, John Ruppe. John would quickly tell you Frances was his favorite aunt.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clover Presbyterian Church, 202 Kings Mountain Street, Clover, SC 29710 or Providence Care Hospice, 500 Lakeshore Parkway, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
