Mr. Franklin Darvin Jenkins, 87, of Clover, South Carolina, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023, at home. 

He was born January 23, 1936, in Cherokee County, South Carolina, to the late Henry Darvin and Elizabeth Hicks Jenkins.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Debbie J. Scruggs. Mr. Jenkins was the owner of F. D. Jenkins Construction Co. 

Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sue Gibson Jenkins; his three daughters, Renee’ J. McFalls, Gaffney, SC, Melody J. Hamlin (Bill), Myrtle Beach, SC, and Crystal J. Reece (Wade), Boonville, NC; his grandchildren, Daniel Scruggs (Tiffany), Kristy Scruggs (Travis), Fletcher Bazemore (Danielle), Morgan H. McLeod (Tyler), Duncan Bazemore, and McKenzie Hamlin; his great-grandchildren, Dylan Scruggs, Kiara Scruggs, Aaron Cochran, Jesse Brown; his brother, Bill R. Jenkins (Maxine); and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Mr. Jenkins was a 1953 graduate of Clover High School.  Being a self-taught carpenter, he was the owner and lead builder of F.D. Jenkins Construction Company for 26 years.  Retiring from his company when he was 46 years old, he continued to build and/or supervise construction into his 80’s.  One of his proudest projects was the Jenkins family beach house where he spent many of his final months. 

Frank was a charter member of Midway Baptist Church and served as deacon and chairman of the deacon board for many years.  He was also quite active on the church building committee. Serving God and supporting his church was one of his greatest passions.  Another one of his passions was camping.  Frank, his wife, and girls were very active in their camping clubs and traveled extensively in the United States and Canada. 

A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Midway Baptist Church, 12984 Hwy. 55 West, York, SC, with the Rev. Joel Long and Rev. Tommy McFalls officiating.  The family will receive friends following the funeral service in the church Fellowship Hall.  Interment will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens, 1774 Filbert Hwy., York, SC.  Pallbearers will be William Hamlin, Wade Reece, Fletcher Bazemore, Duncan Bazemore, Dylan Scruggs, and Tyler McLeod.
