Mr. William Hammond Wylie, 68, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025 in Orangeburg County, SC.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 10th at the Clover Presbyterian Church, 202 Kings Mountain St., Clover, SC.

Mr. Wylie was born April 4, 1957 in North Carolina to the late James Moffatt Wylie and Mary Caroline Bowman Wylie.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Shaffer Wylie.

Hammond earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in English from Winthrop university.  He taught literature, composition, and business communication at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College for 25 years, retiring in December, 2018.  Hammond’s easy-going style and sense of humor, plus his deep knowledge of literature and history, made him an excellent and well-liked instructor.

Survivors are his sisters Susie W. McLean and Caroline W. Cartin (James); and brother Jim Wylie.
