James Allan Morkoski “Al”, 83 years young of Rock Hill, SC, formerly from Hendersonville, NC, and Palm Beach, Florida, died on Monday, June 14, 2021, after a brief illness.
He was born in Canton, Ill., son of Lois E. Tarr Houldsworth and James Morkoski. He was the husband of Jan Reel Morkoski for 53 blessed years. He graduated from Fla. Atlantic University with a BA in Business and served his country in the Air Force. During his lifetime, he was owner and CEO of Allen Research Association, as well as several other privately owned businesses.
He served his Lord through worship music for most of his adulthood with his voice, whether as soloist or choir member, whenever and wherever God called him. For over 20 years, he was a gifted soloist at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville, NC, as well as an active member serving on the Diaconate and chairing several important celebrations in the life of that church. His last years were being a part of The Journey Fellowship in Lake Wylie, SC. Music was his ministry and the love of it, but his family was his life from the intimate members to his church family, to his friends and to all who touched his life.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Reel Morkoski; two daughters, Eva M. Kisielewicz and Molly Morkoski; twin grandsons, James and Jacob Kisielewicz and a son-in-law Henry B. Kisielewicz. He leaves also his brother, John Martin Houldsworth and a sister-in-law, Jane Maurer Houldsworth of Ocala, Florida and a brother-in-law, Robert Clinton Reel of Vero Beach, Florida. Additional family of equal importance include a niece, Amy Reel Meadows, two nephews, Justin M. Houldsworth and Eric Clinton Reel, plus one great nephew, Graham J. Meadows.
A memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville, NC at 4:00 pm on Saturday, August 21, 2021 (Al’s birthday).
