Mr. James Robert Vance, 96, of Lake Wylie, SC (formerly of Rainelle, WV), passed away Monday, March 11, 2024 at home.

Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2024 at M. L. Ford & Sons, 4820 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie, SC with the Rev. Nathanael Cline officiating.

Mr. Vance was born December 6, 1927 in Marfrance, WV to the late Claude Ernest and Mildred Gee Vance.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran and the past owner of Vance’s Auto Parts and Gas Station in Rainelle, WV.  He also formerly served as the mayor of Rainelle, WV. 

Survivors are his wife of 69 years Shirley Alta O’Dell Vance; son Robert “Rusty” Vance (Karen) of Reynoldsburg, OH; daughters, Valerie Lytton (Greg) of Rock Hill, SC, Amy Hawk (Danny) of Kernersville, NC, Merri Hurn (David) of Soddy-Daisy, TN, and Ellen Vance of Lake Wylie, SC; seven grandchildren:  Michael Chapman, Cassie Aurigemma, Josh Hurn, Robb Vance, Daniel Chapman, Drew Lytton, and Kayla Moatamedi; and three great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the Town of Rainelle, c/o Andy Pendleton, P.O. Box 648, Rainelle, WV  25962.
