Janice Wallace Boyd, 70, of Clover, South Carolina, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was the wife of Charles Emmett Boyd. They shared 48 years of marriage together.
Janice was born December 9, 1950, in York, South Carolina, to the late George Hampton Wallace and Aileen Dickson Wallace. She was preceded in death by her sister Anita Jane Wallace.
She is survived by her husband, Emmett Boyd of Clover; daughters, Leah Black of Clover and Ashlyn Condon (Mike) of Clover; her grandchildren, John Hampton Black, William Black, and Madeline Condon; her brother, Ronnie Wallace (Beth) of Rock Hill, and her sister, Donna Christie (Chris) of Birmingham, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janice received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and biology and her master’s degree in education from Winthrop University. After receiving her master’s, she taught at Bethany Elementary School and later at Crowders Creek Elementary, where she taught reading for many years.
Janice grew up and was baptized at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian, where Emmett and she married. She then became an active member at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Janice was devoted to loving and nurturing her family, especially her grandchildren who she described as “my heart.” Her family will miss her greatly.
A memorial service will be held outside on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at St. Paul United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM. Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required.
