Mrs. Janina Meder, 100, of Lake Wylie, SC, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023 surrounded by her family at Sunrise on Providence, Charlotte, NC.

Services will be private.

Mrs. Meder was born May 22, 1923, in Poland, to the late Valentine and Katherine Godijewska.  She was the widow of George Meder and was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Seagal and brother, Ronald Godijewska.

Survivors are her daughter Catherine M. Lloyd (Mike) of Lake Wylie, SC; grandchildren Michael C. Meder (Hilary Parton), Jeffrey M. Cincotta (Stewart), William T. Lloyd (Callie)and Jeffrey T. Lloyd (Melanie); and great grandchildren Reese Cincotta, Wyatt Lloyd, Nora Lloyd, Booker Lloyd, and Morgan Lloyd.

Janina was a beloved wife, a dedicated mother, and a treasured grand and great grandmother who was accepting and loving towards all. She had quite a life. She was born in Poland and grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia where she attended the University of St. Petersburg, pre-med program. She was trapped behind enemy lines during WWII and served as a volunteer nurse for the wounded. She met her future husband George on the ship coming over to the U.S. They lived in Manhattan where George was co-owner of an Architectural firm.  Years later they moved out to Long Island where they eventually lived on the water.  After retiring George and Janina moved to the Carolinas to be close to their daughter and family. She loved fashion, people, nature, animals, and promoted kindness, and humanity towards all. Her amazing smile and laughter became her insignia and will be missed.
