Jimmie Lee Johns, 90, beloved husband and family patriarch, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, in Lake Wylie, SC.
Growing up on a small farm in Arkansas, Jimmie marveled at his journey from a “tomato picker” to an oil executive living all over the world. After enlisting in the US Air Force, he met Nina while stationed in Iceland. They soon married and enjoyed 64 years of marital bliss. Convinced of the value of education, he was accepted to Colorado School of Mines which launched his career in the oil business. Most of his working life was spent overseas in Asia and Europe which greatly expanded his understanding of the world. Known for a great sense of humor, Jimmie retired with Nina to a custom-built dream home in River Hills and enjoyed the company of close friends and many visitors.
Jimmie was born on December 21, 1934, in Lowell, AR to Lawrence “Bus” and Alice Johns. He is survived by Eric Johns (Melanie Snook), John Johns (Kimberly), and Inga Brault (Vincent). He reveled at being grandfather to Alex, Duncan, Garrett, Jackson, Jasper, Luke, Martin, Moka, and Quinn, as well as great grandfather to Calvin, Jameson, and Logan.
In lieu of flowers, please consider providing a few words of remembrance on the Tribute Wall.
