Mrs. Joan Marie Silva Duncan, 89, of York, SC, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at White Oak Manor, York, SC.

Mrs. Duncan was born June 20, 1934, in Providence, RI, to the late Thomas Silva and Mary Jane McCarthy Silva.  Her husband, R.L. Jasper Duncan, and brothers, Thomas Silva, James Silva, and Joseph Silva, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters Maribeth Adams of Clover, SC, and Lori Schofield of York, SC; grandchildren Shaun Cordeiro of Boston, MA, Heather James Schofield of York, SC, and Derrick Schofield of Los Angeles, CA; and great-grandchildren Brynnley James, Brystol James, Bryson James, and Atlas Schofield.

Joan was known for her love of animals and was adamant about supporting charitable organizations whose missions are to protect animals from cruelty, abuse, and neglect.
