Mr. John Raymond LaFollette, 71, of Clover, SC, passed away Friday, November 29, 2024, at CaroMont Medical Center, Gastonia, NC.
Mr. LaFollette was born April 1, 1953, in Sevierville, TN, to the late Alvis Guy and Lela Ruth Maples LaFollette.
John was hard-working and dedicated to his family and community. He retired from Duke Energy where he worked for forty-three years and built many long-lasting friendships. John was proud to serve his country as a US Army Vietnam Veteran. He was an active member of the Clover Optimist Club for over 30 years.
John was a devoted husband of 51 years, supportive father and loving grandfather. He was a man of integrity, kindness and generosity and never met a stranger. John was loved and respected by many and will be deeply missed by those that had the honor of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Hartsoe LaFollette; his daughters, Christy LaFollette Henderson (Steve), York, SC, Misty LaFollette Smith (Jason), Clover, SC; his five grandchildren, Kaylee, Caroline, North, Noah and Ashlyn Owens; his sister, Martha Zeigler (Ed), Sevierville, TN; and his brother, Gene LaFollette, Sevierville, TN. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Bill, Delmar, Joe and Jim LaFollette, and his two sisters, Dorothy Maples and Shirley Lenz.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at South Gastonia Church of God, 310 Carolina Avenue, Gastonia, NC, with the Rev. Adrian Franklin officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Cemetery Street, York, SC, following the service. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
