Mr. John Lawrence Quanne, 85, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at Sunflower Assisted Living, Lake Wylie, SC.
Mr. Quanne was born January 26, 1940, in Scranton, PA, to the late Cornelius “Neal” Quanne and Rozeva Mihaclach “Helen” Muran Quanne. At a very young age, his family moved to Endicott, NY, where he graduated from Union-Endicott High School in 1957. He also attended Broome Community College. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Snow, and they shared three daughters. He enjoyed a 30-year career with IBM in Endicott and Charlotte, and upon retiring from the corporate world, owned Quanstruct, LLC, where he built luxury homes in the Charlotte, Weddington area.
After his second retirement, he and Carol moved to The Villages, FL, where he enjoyed playing golf and aimed to beat his long-standing record of 67. And if not on the course, he could be seen at any of the 19-hole establishments with his golf buddies reliving their rounds. He was an active member at St Timothy Catholic Church in The Villages and spent many years as head usher. He was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was currently a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Lake Wylie, SC.
Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Carol Snow Quanne; daughters Kelly Mendenhall of Charlotte, NC, Colleen Steiner of Knoxville, TN, and Kathleen Quanne of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Michele, Joshua, Justin, and Quinn; great-grandchildren Christopher, Mila, and Islee; brother-in-law Glenn Hankle, and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Charter and Mary Hankle, his brothers, James Quanne, Thomas Quanne, and Christopher Quanne, and his son-in-law, Alex Mendenhall.
A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Charles Tupka officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
