Mrs. Josie Cook Bowman, 101, of Clover, SC, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026 surrounded by her family at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill, SC.
Mrs. Bowman was born February 19, 1925 in York County, SC to the late Joseph Benjamin and Mary Jane Wilkerson Cook. Josie’s life was devoted to service; her family, Church, and community. She loved cooking for others and visiting with friends. As a dedicated Gamecock fan, she enjoyed traveling to see them play with her late husband Sam and was an avid golfer. A faithful member of the Clover Presbyterian Church, Josie served as a Sunday school teacher. She loved her Church, especially her Sunday school class and touched the lives of many. She was a beloved member of the community.
Josie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Sam Houston Bowman.
Survivors are her son Ronald Craig Bowman (Lisa) of Clover, SC; granddaughters Tasha B. Freeman (Kyle) of Columbia, SC and Annie B. Bennett (Andrew) of Clover, SC; and great grandchildren Lincoln, Franklin, and Zelda.
A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2026 at Lakeview Memory Gardens, York, SC with the Rev. Jason Myers officiating. The family will receive friends 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2026 at M. L. Ford & Sons, 209 N. Main St., Clover, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clover Presbyterian Church, 202 Kings Mountain Street, Clover, SC 29710.
