Ms. Joy Bell Faria, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, formerly of West Babylon, New York, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Lake Wylie Assisted Living Community, Lake Wylie, SC.
Ms. Faria was born on January 7, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Thomas Mendes and Robbie Hester Faria.
She is survived by her sister, Dorinha E. Faria, Lake Wylie, SC, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Marie Faria and Mary Faria, and her brothers, Thomas H. Faria, Octavio Faria, Alvaro Faria, Norman Bird Faria, and Michael Paul Faria.
She served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955. After her honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, she worked for the New York Telephone Company from 1955 until 1988, retiring as a Staff Engineer. She also served on the Board of Education in New York from 1964 until 1967. The Jewish War Veterans of the USOA presented her with the Nassau-Suffolk District Council and Ladies Auxiliary Award.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, February 21, 2025, at M. L Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 4820 Charlotte Hwy., Lake Wylie, SC.
