Juanita Garcia Obituary

Mrs. Juanita Kennedy Garcia of Clover, SC, passed away November 25, 2019 at her home.

A Funeral Mass will be held on November 27, 2019 at 11:00 am at All Saints Catholic Church, Lake Wylie SC.

Mrs. Garcia was born June 29, 1935 in Batesville, GA to the late Benjamin Kennedy and Hazel Arrandale Kennedy.  She was the widow of Fernando Simon Garcia.  She was predeceased by a brother Bill Kennedy, and a sister Irene “Nenie” Kennedy.  Juanita was raised in Habersham County, Georgia.  She graduated from Sacred Hearts School, Atlanta, GA.  She married Fernando Garcia in 1957 at Sacred Hearts Church in Atlanta and was married for 58 years.  After a brief period in California, they settled in Huntsville, AL in 1961.

Juanita was initially a homemaker raising three children in Huntsville.  Avid at mathematics and finance, Juanita later worked as a Mortgage Professional at Alabank.  One of her favorite roles was as a volunteer at Hillhaven Nursing Home where she shared her love and compassion for others in need, and also led residents in lively chair exercises.  Her hobbies included painting with watercolors and acrylics, sketching, sewing, and poem writing.  She had poem publications in Poetic Voices of America.  She was also passionate about living creatures and her home was always alive with various pets.  She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Huntsville.  Most importantly, she was a role model for her children and grandchildren of being a steadfast Christian, of helping others in need, of nurturing the bonds of family, and the power of humor.

Survivors are her daughter Gloria Garcia Toney (Wayne) of Clover, SC; sons Fernando Manuel Garcia (Renee) of Palm Harbor, FL, Miguel Luis Garcia (Michelle) of Sugar Hill, GA; grandchildren Keegan Simone Garcia (Blair), Margo Toney Lannan (Will), Gabriel Wayne Toney, Ethan Gabriel Moore; and great grandchild Aubrie Maria Lannan.
