Mr. Lawrence McRae Shaw, Sr., passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021, in Charlotte NC.
A Celebration of Life party will be from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 2501 Beacon Crest Lane, Lake Wylie SC.
Mr. Shaw was born in Charlotte NC, June 19, 1942. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps and attended Lees McRae College.
Mr. Shaw was a manufacturer rep and loved to travel to see his “dealers”. His dealers were some of his closest friends. His business success was centered around his loving, friendly, never met a stranger personality. He often would travel out of town to visit with dealers long after he retired for a great steak dinner.
After his wife Judy died, he moved to Lake Wylie, SC from Charlotte, NC and kept up his “never met a stranger” type personality and formed a large friend group. Mr. Shaw loved to go to lunch and visit with anyone who wanted to come along.
Mr. Shaw never missed a UNC basketball game and loved to comment on the Carolina Panthers.
We will miss him greatly!
He is survived by two sons, Lawrence M. Shaw, Jr. (Karen) of Charlotte, NC and John P. Shaw (Wanda Scher) of Lake Wylie, SC; sister, Camilla S. Hollifield (Bill) of Pawley’s Island, SC; two granddaughters, Avery Elizabeth Shaw and Julia Elle Shaw; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, William “Blake” Shaw, his wife of 31 years, Judy Shaw, parents, Harry P. Shaw, Jr. and Margaret McRae Shaw, a brother, Harry Pritchard Shaw, III., and a sister, Peggy Weaver.
