Linda Farrant Obituary

Ms. Linda Mae Whyte “YT” Farrant, 80, of Clover, SC, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, SC.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2445 Hwy. 557, Clover, S.C., with the Rev. Christopher Donnelly and Rev. Trent Thomas officiating. Her family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Farrant was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 23, 1943, to the late William Whyte and Marjorie Mae Kulhanek.

She is survived by her loving and devoted partner, Donald Ray Nivens; son, James Michels Farrant (Barbara) of Clover, SC; daughter, Holly Farrant Miczek (Jason) of Philadelphia, PA; brother William Henry Whyte (Bonnie) of Marietta GA; nephew William Robert Whyte (Amy) of Buford, GA, and their children, Sophia, Lauren, and Roman; and niece, Jennifer Whyte Albers, (Brian) of Dallas, GA, and their children Lily, Grayson, Sutherlyn, and Ella Grace.

Linda embodied timeless beauty - both inside and out - exuding grace, refinement, and impeccable style. Her vibrant personality effortlessly lit up any space she entered. She had a knack for always choosing the perfect words and a natural talent for making everyone she encountered feel valued and cherished.

One of her greatest joys was hosting gatherings for her friends and family, especially at Christmas. A talented cook and baker, Linda approached every meal with enthusiasm, always eager to delight her guests with new recipes. Among her culinary creations, her decadent chocolate brownie recipe, reserved for extra-special occasions, achieved legendary status, capable of brightening even the gloomiest of days with a single bite. Linda took pride in every aspect of hosting, meticulously attending to each detail, from inspecting table centerpieces to ensuring the candles were lit just before guests arrived. No gathering at her home was complete without her signature cocktail, the Cosmopolitan. This drink embodied her essence perfectly: a harmonious blend of sweetness and sophistication, served with a dash of glamour and flair, mirroring her vibrant personality.

Linda was an amazing mother. Her caring nature and unwavering dedication set an unparalleled example for her children. She was a pillar of strength and love, ensuring her children felt supported in every endeavor they pursued. She never missed an event, whether it was a band concert, a tennis match, or Girl Scout troop meeting. Her many years attending her children’s concerts fostered a lifelong love for the Clover High School band. Even after her children had graduated, Linda continued to attend band competitions. To Linda, all the band kids were her kids, and her legacy of boundless love and support will forever resonate within the hearts of those she cherished.

Knowing Linda also meant understanding her profound affection for cats. Her furry companion, Cinnamon, was like a child to her, and she spared no effort in showering Cinnamon with toys and treats. Her compassion for animals extended beyond felines, as Linda remained a steadfast advocate for animal welfare throughout her lifetime.

Linda was always ready for the next adventure. She was very well-traveled, even residing in Australia for several years. She especially treasured her trips to the glitz and grandeur of Las Vegas. Locally, she savored excursions to Hilton Head, Cherokee, and numerous other escapades with the Shively family, who she considered an integral part of her family.

As a child in Cleveland, Ohio, Linda loved visiting Euclid Beach Park with her father, who shared her same zest for adventure. Her passion for thrills continued when she relocated to Clover, SC, in the early 1980s. Nearly every summer weekend, she'd accompany her children and their friends to Carowinds, enthusiastically urging them to join her on all the roller coasters.

While Linda was tragically and unfairly taken from us too soon, she lived life to the fullest and never turned down opportunities to broaden her horizons. She loved fiercely, unconditionally, and generously, leaving an imprint on everyone she met. Linda's spirit, her kindness, and her love for life will leave a lasting void in our hearts. We will miss her dearly, but her memory will live on in the laughter she shared, the stories she told, and the chocolate cravings she instilled in all of us. She loved big and lived well. If you’re reading this and you knew her, rest assured you had a special place in her heart.
