Linda Risch Obituary

Ms. Linda Hornung Risch, 72, of Lake Wylie, SC, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Atrium Health, Pineville, NC.

Linda was born May 22, 1949, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to the late Victor Woodrow Hornung and Eileen Kottmyer Hornung. She is survived by her sons, Christopher (and Neyal) Risch, Jeffrey Risch, and Stephen (and Jerri) Risch, and grandchildren, Cody, Logan, Rayden, Alexis, Ian, and Eliana Risch.

Linda was a kind, loving, handy, strong-willed woman, mother, sister, and wife. She enjoyed the simple things in life and found happiness in her routines. You could count on her to have her Life cereal and bananas (which she would bring with her when visiting), peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch, and chocolate chip cookies with milk, and you would know what time of year it was by the variety of fiber-optic decorations that appeared around the house every holiday.

For many years, she was the coupon queen and refund master, helping make ends meet and earning gifts for the family and the many nieces and nephews. She was an avid crocheter, including the often-requested custom color “scrubbies”, and most recently crocheting matts for the needy. She liked bowling, gardening, and canning apple sauce with her sisters Vicki Salter and Debbie Bixler in the fall. Linda was a movie fan always leaving on Back to the Future when it was on, loved musicals, and was a closet Trekkie looking forward to the next Star Trek movie.

She was loved and will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105) or to the local humane society.
