Linda Jane Rhodes Walker, 77, of Clover, SC passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Atrium Health, Pineville, NC.
Linda was born January 13, 1949 in Sylva, NC to the late Vernon “Dusty” Rhodes and Mary Evelyn Carringer Rhodes. Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Thomas Jefferson “Jeff” Walker.
Linda was a graduate of Enka High School in Enka, NC and received her master’s degree in education from Winthrop University. She taught school in the Clover School District for 25 years and was a dedicated member of Delta Kappa Gamma Education Society, promoting educational excellence and equality. Linda loved the great outdoors, especially exploring the NC mountains and the coastline of SC. Linda and Jeff vacationed in the American West, Alaska and Canada, and made trips to the United Kingdom. She had a special love of music, from classical to Appalachian to Southern Gospel, and sang in church choirs her entire life. She and Jeff were dedicated members of the First Baptist Church Clover for many years.
Survivors are her sister Marty Long (John) of Stanley, NC; sister Ruth Gaddy of Asheville, NC; brother Randall V. Rhodes (Donna) of Sophia, NC; sisters-in-law Louise Walker and Terry Dancy (Guy) of Charlotte, NC; brother-in-law Johnny Walker of Gastonia, NC; and beloved special nieces and nephews.
Linda was blessed with many close and dedicated friends. She was very grateful for their support during her illness.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at the First Baptist Church, 117 S. Main Street, Clover, SC with the Rev. Mike Stafford officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of First Baptist Church, 117 S. Main Street, Clover, SC 29710.
