Mrs. Lois Jean Tyndall Jamieson, 85, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, passed away, Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at home.
She was born May 30, 1937, in Orange, NJ, to the late Remsen Tyndall and Ada Heck Tyndall.
Mrs. Jamieson is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert Bruce Jamieson; her daughter, Denise Jamieson (Tracee Treadwell), Decatur, GA; her sons, Robert Bruce Jamieson, Jr. (Jane), Oceanside, CA, and Brian Jamieson (Sarah), Severna Park, MD; her grandchildren, Bobby Jamieson (Kristin), Jake Jamieson, Alina Jamieson (Warner), John Treadwell, Jamieson Treadwell, Marston Jamieson, and Clifford Clay Jamieson; and her great-grandchildren, Rose Jamieson, Lucy Jamieson, William Jamieson, and Margaret Jamieson.
Lois was a believer in the power of education to transform and enrich, and was a lifelong reader, learner and teacher. She earned a teaching degree from Kean College (NJ) in 1974, a few years after the birth of her youngest child. She was also an avid piano player, and after moving to Lake Wylie in 1987 she went back to Queens College (NC) to earn a bachelor’s degree in Music. Lois combined her love of teaching and music by offering private piano lessons to adults and children for many years, and tutoring in an adult literacy program in York, SC. Known to her grandchildren as “Grammy,” Lois enjoyed visiting them all, and storytime, in particular was her favorite.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Community Church at Lake Wylie, 104 Hamilton's Ferry Road, Lake Wylie, SC, on Sunday June 4th at 2pm, with a brief graveside service (adjacent) following service, and a reception at the Jamieson residence at 14 Oakwood Lane.
