Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” Callahan Robinson, 102, of Clover, SC passed away Thursday, October 14, 2025, at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, SC.
Peggy Robinson was born to Irish parents from County Cork, in the Republic of Ireland. After her parents , the late Daniel and Elizabeth Callahan, married on 4/4/1920, they settled in Lowell, Massachusetts. Born 12/13/22, Peggy’s maiden name was Margaret Mary Callahan. Meeting her husband, Lawrence Marshall Robinson, during World War 11, while he served as a captain in the Army, they married and moved to his hometown, Clover, SC. Eventually, five children were born: Larry, Jerry, Betty Ann, Tom, and Julie. She later became grandmother to eight: Marshall, Brandon, Lauren, Mary, Daniel, Christopher, David, and Sean, as well as great grandmother to eight.
After being widowed at age 48, when Marshall died of a heart attack, she raised and educated her 5 children. She faithfully served as administrative assistant to the CEO of York Place for 46 years, while still finding time to stay active playing golf, bridge, and participating in the Y, Clover Woman’s Club, book club, Red Hat Society, and serving on the Board at the Y. She was a founding member of Divine Saviour Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and served as a lector and eucharistic minister. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with senior travel clubs and with family.
She enjoyed attention from all her children, especially in her recent years. Her children enabled her to stay at home until her death October 14, 2025, at the age of 102, enhanced her quality of life, by joining her for YMCA classes , Mass, ARP lunches, and Clover restaurants, as well as providing companionship, humor, and mental stimulation.
Survivors are her daughters Elizabeth Ann “Betty Ann” Surratt (Michael) of Fort Mill, SC; Julia (Julie) Marie Adams (Keith) of Charlotte, NC; sons Lawrence M. “Larry” Robinson of Manassas, VA, Gerald “Jerry” D. Robinson of Clover, SC, and Thomas “Tom” Michael Robinson (Suzanne) of Clover, SC; and sister Dorothy Pettus of Chapel Hill, NC, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Although those left behind will miss her presence, her new life in heaven will be far greater than this one. She left an example of how to live with faith, hope, and gratitude.
