Our mother was born on December 6, 1929, in Smyrna, SC to the late Quay McElwee Whitesides and Nannie McCarter Whitesides. She graduated from Bethany High School and Erskine College in 1950. She retired from teaching elementary school in Clover after 30 years. She was married to the late Dan R. Hall for 58 years. Margie lived in York County all her life where she raised three daughters and was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of York for nearly 70 years. Our mother enjoyed studying family genealogy and was an avid reader. As a lifelong teacher, she enjoyed quizzing her family on the state capitals, state nicknames and other state trivia.
