Mrs. Mary Gibson Greene, whom many fondly knew as "Poo," was called to her eternal home on Monday, July 22, 2024, at the age of 91 in Lexington, SC.

Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at M. L. Ford & Sons, 209 N. Main St., Clover, SC with the Rev. Lanny Davidson officiating.  The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service.  Interment will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens, York, SC.

Mrs. Greene was born March 26, 1933, in Clover, SC, she was a cherished child of God, lovingly brought into this world by the late Henderson and Jessie Gibson.

A humble graduate of Clover High School, Mary's life journey was marked by a tapestry of service, both in the professional realm and within the sanctuary of her home. In the 1950s, she served with diligence at Hardware Mutual, an insurance company in Charlotte, where she exemplified integrity and stewardship. Later, she embraced the sacred calling of motherhood, nurturing her family with devotion as a stay-at-home wife and mother. Mary's industrious spirit led her back into the workforce at Garlock, a local hardware store in Gastonia, SC, and as a skilled seamstress, she crafted with care and precision.

Mary's life was a living testament to the virtues of humility and gratitude. Her hands, always ready to tend to the needs of others, found joy in the simplicity of BINGO, the tranquility of the gardens at NHC, and the vibrant colors of her weekend coloring activities. She cherished the fellowship of church with her grandchild and great-grandchildren and delighted in the mental engagement of brain games. Her heart overflowed with love for all of God's creation, finding beauty in the smallest of His wonders.

She was preceded in departure from this earthly realm by her parents, Henderson and Jessie Gibson, her siblings, Lloyd and Margaret Gibson, her husband, Richard Greene, and her children, Joel Greene and Joan Greene Childers. She now joins the heavenly chorus with those who have gone before her.

Left to honor her memory and carry forward her legacy of love and compassion are her grandchildren Mary and Adam Newton, Daniel and Mandy Robinson; great-grandchildren Jacob Oliver Newton Sarah Joan Newton, and Margot Joan Robinson; brother-in-law Dan Greene; daughter-in-law Martha Greene; and son-in-law Bobby Childers and wife Darlene.

As we commemorate Mary, we are reminded of her unwavering faith, her gentle spirit, and her respect for all of God's creation. Her memory will be a beacon of light, guiding us to live with grace, humility, and an enduring respect for the divine tapestry of life.
