Mrs. Mary Kathryn “Kathy” Boyd McCall passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill, SC.

Mrs. McCall was born May 27, 1947 in Gastonia, NC to the late Paul N. Boyd and Evelyn Davis Boyd.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Nelson McCall and sister-in-law, Brenda M. Boyd.

Kathy was a graduate of Clover High School and Winthrop College.  She was a self-made entrepreneur and business woman.  She started her career as co-owner of Smith’s Women’s Apparel with stores in Clover, York, Rock Hill, and Gastonia.  She moved on to own and operate G M Manufacturing Company in Clover and seven G M Outlet Stores in North and South Carolina. She was very successful in real estate as well.  Kathy could see possibilities when no one else could.  In fact, she was flipping houses before the term was known to the real estate world.  Many adjectives can describe Kathy: inventive, fearless, opinionated, strong-willed, stubborn, hard-working, demanding as well as loving, caring, compassionate, and generous. She had a larger-than-life personality and leaves a larger-than-life hole in many of our lives.

Mrs. McCall is survived by her brothers, William D. Boyd and P. Neil Boyd, Jr. (Emily), niece, Lauren E. Luckey, nephew, Brown D. Boyd (Haley), cousin-sister, Beth B. Jackson and many other cousins and friends who loved her.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2026 at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Clover, SC with the Rev. Jonathan Taylor officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the Funeral Home. 

Her family wishes to thank the many caregivers who loved Kathy and provided care and compassion over the past year.
